BONNICI. On July 26, JOSEPH, proprietor of Sammy's Tavern in Xemxija l/o St Paul's Bay, of Mellieħa, aged 45, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Susan, his daughter Christina, his mother Maryanne, his mother-in-law Mary Vella, his brothers and sisters and their families, in-laws and their families, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives, clients and friends. GAUCI. On July 26, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, MARIA VICTORIA (Vivi), of Msida, aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Victor and his wife Maria, Marthese and her husband Tony Cassar Darien, Paul and his wife Rita, grandchildren Timothy and Michael, Daniel and his wife Claudia, Stanley and his wife Petra, Daphne and Claudia, James and Jonathan, her brother Alphonse Galea, her sister-in-law Olga Galea and her brother-in-law Harry, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. St Lawrence oratorio

An oratorio on St Lawrence, entitled Laurentius, written by Bishop Emeritus Nikol Cauchi with music by John Galea, is one of the highlights in a programme of special activities by San Lawrenz parish in Gozo to mark the 1,750 years since the martyrdom of the saint.

The oratorio will be presented at the parish church on Friday. Taking part will be the National Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chorus Urbanus.

The programme also includes a play on the life of St Lawrence on August 4, a folk evening on August 7, and other activities starting on Wednesday and reaching their climax on August 10 when the parish celebrates the feast of its patron saint.

A monument in honour of St Lawrence by Gozitan artist John Grima will be unveiled.

St Paul's relic

The relic of St Paul arrives back in Malta from Australia on Wednesday.

It will be carried by Rabat archpriest Canon Louis Suban who is expected to arrive at the airport at 3 p.m.

Devotees of St Paul will accompany the relic from the airport to St Dominic parish church in Rabat. A pilgrimage will start at 6 p.m. at the end of a Eucharistic celebration. The Count Roger Band will take part.
