Two cruise ships, including the Maltese-registered Zenith, collided in the Greek port of Piraeus this morning but no one was injured, the Greek Merchant Marine said.

The Zenith, carrying 1,819 passengers and 619 crew, hit the Greek-flagged Aegean Pearl as the Zenith attempted to tie up in the port. The Aegean Pearl was carrying 504 passengers and 349 crew.

Port authorities have not allowed the ships to sail until the damage is assessed.

Passengers have remained on board.

The Aegean Pearl had been due to leave for Mykonos and the Greek islands.

The Zenith arrived in Piraeus from Venice and stopping in Croatia and the Greek islands of Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini.

The Malta Maritime Authority said the Zenith had sustained minor damage.

It said that in another incident, the Maltese registered Easycruiseone was also slightly damaged while berthed alongside in the port of Aegina.

The authority is looking into both incidents.
