A Libyan was yesterday charged with stealing birds, a car stereo, a driller and a chaser from a Mosta garage.

Emaad Khalifa Beleed Zweitt, 35, was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to stealing the birds and the other items, worth over €200, to the detriment of Lewis Mizzi on Saturday at about 7 a.m.

Mr Zweitt was also charged with handling stolen property. Police Inspector Edmond Cuschieri prosecuted. Lawyer Richard Sladden was defence counsel.
