A 15-year-old boy was this afternoon placed under house arrest after he pleaded not guilty to the possession and trafficking of ecstasy and cocaine.
“If you so much as poke your nose out of the door you will be re-arrested and, I can assure you, it won’t be a pleasant experience,” Magistrate Antonio Mizzi warned the teenager.
The boy, whose name cannot be published since he is a minor, pleaded not guilty to trafficking and the possession of the two drugs yesterday and the previous five months.
He was also charged with breaching a probation order.
The boy’s defence lawyer, Richard Sladden, made a request for bail but Police Inspector Keith Arnaud, prosecuting, explained to the magistrate that the problem was that the boy’s parents had lost control over him.
A few months ago the boy had been charged in court for taking a car on a joy ride and put on probation, the inspector added.
Magistrate Mizzi also bound the boy with a personal guarantee of €1,000.
Police Inspectors Arnaud and Anna Marie Micallef prosecuted.
