A 48-year-old man was this afternoon charged with threatening a man and woman and the illegal possession of an airgun and ammunition.

Emanuel Ellul of Fgura pleaded not guilty to the possession of the gun without a licence, trying to seriously injure Aaron Micallef and slightly injuring him yesterday.

Mr Ellul was also charged with exercising a presumed right over Michelle Mizzi’s car when he took the law into his hands and towed it, threatening Ms Mizzi and Mr Micallef, disobeying police and breaching the peace.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €20,000.

Police Inspector Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.

Lawyer Franco Debono and Charmaine Cherrett appeared for Mr Ellul.
