Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas renewed a longstanding relationship between Malta and the Palestinians when he visited the Island earlier this month.

He was interviewed for The Sunday Times by Herman Grech about the current situation in the Middle East. Mr Abbas praised the work being done by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, now a Middle East peace envoy. He also renewed the Palestinian call for a release of prisoners by Israel.
