The Victoria Scout Group recently took part in a multinational youth exchange programme, Magerit 2008, financed by the EU Youth in Action Programme. Ten Scouts aged between 13 and 15, led by Scout Leader Frank Muscat and Cub Scout Leader Anita Muscat, joined 26 Scouts from three other scout groups - Grupo 159 - Escoteiros do Monte from Madeira in Portugal, Assoraiders de Sora from Villavallelunga, Italy, and Grupo Scout 217 Matterhorn from Madrid - the organisers of exchange programme.

This international gathering was held between June 29 and July 12 in San Lorenzo de el Escorial, a small, quiet, town about 50 kms from Madrid, famous for the royal monastery of El Escorial, a World Heritage site that houses the crypt of the Spanish monarchs.

Activities, revolving around the themes of cultural diversity and water conservation, included cooking and language workshops, brainstorming sessions, discussions, poster and Power Point presentations on water conservation and cultural diversity, video forums, collecting signatures in Madrid and Segovia in favour of practical water-saving measures, and visits to historical sites in San Lorenzo de el Escorial, Madrid and Segovia.
