Opera vs Pop concert in Victoria

The Gozo Youth Orchestra will present its Opera vs Pop Under The Stars concert at the Gozo Ministry courtyard, Victoria, on August 4 at 8.15 p.m.

The orchestra is made up of 50 youngsters and the concert will feature guest Soprano Pamela Agius from New York along with Bass Noel Galea.

An exhibition of works by Paul Stellini will complement the music.

The orchestra, conducted by founder and music director Joseph Grech, will perform a selection of operatic arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni, Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera, Macbeth and Simone Boccanegra and Puccini's Gianni Schicchi followed by an array of pop arrangements from soundtracks and musicals including Porgy and Bess, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago and John Williams' Movies.

Opera vs Pop Under The Stars is being held in collaboration with the US Embassy and the Culture Office of the Gozo Ministry.
