Expensive laptop computers were stolen from the offices of at least five communications and advertising companies over the past days in the Gżira/Ta' Xbiex area.
Four, possibly five, such laptops were stolen on Thursday evening from the offices of the communications agency ANG in Ta' Xbiex. The thieves first forced open the main door of the block and then the door leading to the offices. Some damage was also done to furniture.
On Wednesday night, burglars raided the offices of Network Publications, in Ta' Xbiex, and made off with six laptops. They also ransacked the rooms and damaged doors to gain access.
The offices of the branding firm Switch, also based in Ta' Xbiex, were raided on Monday. A number of laptops and a camera were stolen and some doors and cupboards were damaged.
Other targets in the preceding days were Perfecta and Blaze agencies, also involved in advertising.
It was reported that other offices in the area reported finding the locks of their doors tampered with.
Reports were made to the police who are investigating an almost certain link between the burglaries, sources said.
