Recently, I have been using the road which takes one from Mellieħa to Manikata quite frequently because of the closure of the southbound section of the St Paul's Bay Bypass.

The first hill, which takes one to the valley that separates these two localities, is very dangerous for drivers going down from Mellieħa. On the left hand side of the road there is a very deep gutter into which one can easily swerve if one is not extremely careful.

At the moment there are only flimsy vertical metal strips placed at around four-metre intervals to warn drivers of the danger. A metal guard rail should be installed as soon as possible to prevent a nasty accident, especially at night when the area is in total darkness.
