This year's edition of BOV Streets Alive starts this evening at 7 around Republic Street and Merchants Street, in Valletta.

The activities are designed to provide entertainment and keep the streets of Valletta alive.

St George's Square, in front of the Palace, will be hosting The Malta Police Band and the Police Silent Drill from 7 p.m.

Great Siege Square, facing the law courts, will host Show Biz High by the Batista Leisure Group at 8 p.m. followed by Golden Memories performed by Paul Abela and his Big Band at 9 p.m.

Food and drink stalls will be set up at Freedom Square while catering outlets around Valletta will serve customers al fresco where they will be able to view a display by the Old Motors Club.

Other attractions include a Children's Corner in Republic Street, a Mini Owners Club and Ford Classics Display in Merchants Street, a concert by the Union Brass Quintet at Auberge d'Italie starting at 7.30 p.m. and a performance by the Għaxaq Folk and Pop Ensemble at Pjazza Reġina. A village band will also march along the main streets of the city.

A full programme of events is available at www.bov.com.

Bank of Valletta has launched a card payments promotion linked to this year's events.

Aimed at promoting business activity in Valletta and adding value to BOV Streets Alive activities, the promotion covers all payments made by cards in Valletta outlets between today and August 8, both days included.

Cardholders who pay for shopping and dining in Valletta using their card have a chance to win back the amount they spend up to a maximum of €100, Mario Gouder, executive head responsible for consumer lending at the bank said.

The lottery will be drawn on August 13.

The promotion is being extended to Valletta merchants. In fact, merchants who process at least five transactions through their BOV Epos can win cash prizes.

Further information is obtainable from www.bov.com.

BOV Streets Alive is organised by Valletta Alive Foundation in collaboration with Bank of Valletta and the support of the Ministry for Tourism and Culture, the Malta Tourism Authority and Allied Newspapers.
