A Maltese 56-year-old man who is resident in Victoria was arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of heroin.

The drug was allegedly discovered by members of the police Drug Squad yesterday after days of observation which indicated that the man was trafficking heroin in Gozo. The police said that when the man was stopped and searched by the Drug Squad, sachets of heroin ready to be sold were found in his possession and at a farmhouse which he owns in Munxar.

During a search, the police said they also found and seized a weighing scale and a sum of money in cash.

Investigations continue.
