One boy still critical, the other stable

The condition of the 12-year-old boy who was critically injured in a traffic accident at Cospicua on Wednesday was yesterday described by the police as being stable.

The other boy, a Briton aged 15, who was critically injured in the same accident, was still fighting for his life yesterday, the police said.

The two boys were passengers in a Hyundai car that was involved in a head-on collision with a cement truck in the tunnel in Għajn Dwieli Road. The driver of the car, the father of the 15-year-old boy, was also injured but was never in a critical condition. He is still recovering at Mater Dei Hospital.

Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona is holding an inquiry. Meanwhile, the 60-year-old man from San Ġwann who was seriously injured in a fall in a residence at his hometown is still fighting for his life. The man was with other persons carrying items upstairs when he accidentally fell a height of about one storey.
