Daniel Bogdanovic is attracting interest from Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian league after the former Malta forward was recommended to the club by Danilo Doncic, the Lokomotiv assistant coach.

Last season, Bogdanovic opted to continue his career away from the Maltese Premier League and joined Italian Serie C2 side Cisco Roma. He helped them to a ninth place finish in the standings.

Doncic, who was coach at Floriana in 2007-08, said he spoke positively on Bogdanovic with Lokomotiv Sofia officials who have given their green light to invite the 28-year-old for a one-week trial in Holland where the club is currently holding their pre-season training.

"Daniel Bogdanovic will be travelling to Holland on Thursday (today) to start a one-week trial with Lokomotiv Sofia," Doncic said.

"Lokomotiv are trying to strengthen the squad for next season and Bogdanovic is one player who could be a valuable addition to our options. I believe that we need a player of his quality in attack."

Doncic said Bogdanovic will practise with the rest of the first team squad and will have a chance to show his skills on Sunday when Lokomotiv play a friendly against Israel side Makabi-Tikvesh.
