Edwin van Sar helped Man. United to 21 clean sheets last season.

Since the turn of the 1990s, this is only the third time that a club in England finished with the best attacking average and meanest defensive record in the same season.

Manchester United have also claimed this platonic honour in 1997-98. Arsenal finished as leading scoring side with the best defensive rearguard in 2003-04.

In 2007-08, United conceded 22 goals for an average of 0.58 goal(s) per Premier League match. In 1998, United let in 26 goals for an average of 0.68.

Throughout the campaign United registered a total of 21 clean sheets to finish as the best in the Premiership for total shutdowns, along with Chelsea.

Five clubs have featured in both top 10 charts - for and against - in scoring potentiality and in mean backlines in 2007-08.

These are Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and MK Dons.
