Melitensia section at Vittoriosa public library upgraded

The Melitensia section of the public library in Vittoriosa has been upgraded with the support of HSBC.

Opened in 1993, the library was recently given a structural revamp and a substantial increase in its collection. The most recent addition is the Melitensia reference section.

Vittoriosa mayor John Boxall said that the popularity of the library grew across all age groups, with readers having special reading needs. The library lends about 300 books a month. It also registers a good number of foreign members residing in the area who not only make use of the library but also donate books. This served to beef up the library with a wide variety of quality books, Mr Boxall, said.

The library, which services Senglea, Cospicua, Vittoriosa, Kalkara, Fgura, Żabbar and Xgħajra, is housed at the Auberge d'Angleterre and is maintained by the Vittoriosa local council.
