Man held after theft tip-off
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of breaking into a store in Qormi and stealing various items.
The police said they were alerted to the break-in by an anonymous tip-off at about three yesterday morning.
Police officers went on site and noticed a man acting suspiciously when he caught sight of them. He was followed and questioned as he approached a vehicle. Inside the car, the officers found various items including tools, gas cylinders and crates of lemonade.
The man gave no explanation as to why he was carrying such items and was therefore arrested on the spot and held for questioning, the police said.
Following a search of the area, the police found that a garage door leading to a store had been forced open.
It was also noted that somebody had been rummaging the items inside the warehouse and a number of items, including food products and beverages, had apparently been prepared for removal and transportation, the police said.

good and prompt action by the police. well done. if it is the case, i think it is time that the electoral commission pass the money to the police so they will be paid for their work during last march election. police officers are workers like all others and are not to be abbused by not being paid promptly for overtime hours. we all should be gratefull for the good work the police is doing for the country.
