Goalkeeper Petr Cech will play for Chelsea until 2013 after extending his contract at Stamford Bridge by another five years.

Cech, 26, said: "It is an honour to be at a club like Chelsea and I am happy to have renewed my contract.

"Chelsea has grown in my heart, not just because of my team-mates and all the people that work for the club but also because of their fantastic fans."

Cech's current contract had two years left to run. The Czech international joined Chelsea from French club Rennes for £7m in 2004 and has made 166 appearances for the club, keeping a remarkable 90 clean sheets.

The Czech no.1 was voted UEFA's most valuable goalkeeper in the 2005/06 season.

Behrami nearing West Ham deal

Gianluca Nani, the sporting director at West Ham, said the London club are on the verge of signing Valon Behrami from Lazio for £5.2m.

The defender is believed to have held initial talks at Upton Park after informing Lazio of his desire to leave Serie A.

Reports have suggested Behrami, of Switzerland, was ready to invoke article 17 of FIFA's rules, which gives players nearing the end of their contracts the right to move on without costing a fee, to secure the move to West Ham.

Nani said: "I hope the negotiation will be concluded. We have worked to do what is possible for a solution that doesn't consider FIFA article 17."

Inter shift focus on Quaresma

Inter seem to have given up hope of signing Frank Lampard this summer. With the Chelsea midfielder unavailable new coach Jose Mourinho is now pinning his hopes on signing Portugal compatriot Ricardo Quaresma from Porto.

The Portuguese club's initial transfer fee of £30m looked to have put Inter off the deal but reports said talks have re-opened.

"It would be interesting to have Quaresma," Mourinho said.

"I think the player would be happy to come but I don't know if the directors will make an offer."

Quaresma's agent Jorge Mendes has flown to Milan to try and make progress on an agreement but the two clubs may struggle to find a compromise. The Italy champions could offer £20m for Quaresma and Portuguese youngster Pele.

Arsenal not breaking wage structure

Arsenal are not ready to break their wage structure policy to satisfy Emmanuel Adebayor's demands, manager Arsene Wenger said.

The Togo striker is reportedly seeking a new contract to stay at the Emirates Stadium next season. He has been linked with a move to Italy or Spain and was due to return for pre-season training yesterday.

Wenger said he will not be held to ransom.

"I've not met many people who do not believe they have a case to improve their contract," Wenger said.

"I fight to get the players the maximum wages, but you have to respect that we have a wage structure."

Corradi wants move

Bernardo Corradi does not want to rejoin Manchester City for the new season. The 32-year-old failed to settle in the English Premier League after his move from Spanish side Valencia in 2006.

Last season, Corradi completed the season at Parma after managing only three goals in 29 appearances for Man. City. Reports said Corradi wants to stay in his homeland for good and is hopeful that Reggina will take him on board.

"I want to return to Italy and I want Reggina," Corradi said.

"I don't want to make any other announcements because I would prefer to wait for the situation to be concluded.

"I am waiting with confidence. I have told the English side what I want."

Spurs could have £57m to spend

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos will have £57 million to spend on new players, the money also coming from the sale of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane despite the London club saying the duo are not for sale.

Strikers Diego Milito and Roman Pavlyuchenko along with wingers David Bentley and Diego Capel are in Ramos's plans.

Tottenham threatened to report Man. United and Liverpool over alleged illegal approaches for their players but reports said both players want to leave and the club are already planning for their departures.

Everton need new signings

David Moyes reckons Everton require up to six new players in this summer's transfer season to assemble a strong squad to challenge for the honours next season.

Everton transferred Lee Carsley to Birmingham while Thomas Gravesen and Manuel Fernandes completed their loan spells as reports said that Moyes had made a bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho.

Moyes said: "We need to bring in five or six players and we haven't brought in any yet. So, I think we'll be working right up until the end.

"Everton will be quite busy in the coming weeks. We've got to strengthen the squad. Our numbers are so short and we've got injuries, too."
