Dutch international defender Khalid Boulahrouz has completed his move from Chelsea to VfB Stuttgart, the English Premier League club confirmed on their website (www.chelseafc.com) yesterday.

The 26-year-old Dutchman suffered a personal tragedy during Euro 2008 last month when his wife gave birth prematurely to a daughter who later died.

He previously played in the Bundesliga for Hamburg SV between 2004 and 2006 and made only 13 appearances for Chelsea before a spell on loan at Sevilla last season.

Boulahrouz is likely to replace Portugal's Fernando Meira, who is set to leave Stuttgart and join Turkish champions Galatasaray.
