Man arrested on suspicion of theft

The police have arrested a man on suspicion of theft from a store in Cannon Road, Qormi.

In a statement, the police said they had received a tip-off at about 3 a.m. about a break-in at the store.

Mobile Squad police who went to the scene noted the man walking in the street and acting suspiciously in the police presence.

He was arrested upon going into a car, where a number of items were noticed. He could not explain how he got them.

The police also noted that the door to the store had been forced open and several items, including wine and food products, had been placed behind it, apparently to be carried away,

The man has been kept under arrest for questioning.
