Cabinet agrees details of marinas privatisation
The Cabinet this morning decided the details for the privatisation of yacht marinas currently operated by the Malta Maritime Authority, the Ministry of the Infrastructure,Transport and Communications said.
The marinas at Msida, Ta’Xbiex and Mgarr will be privatised after a call for interest is made by the Privatisation Unit. The three marinas have a total of some 1,000 berths out of a total of 1,635 for all of Malta.
Offers will be received for the management of the marinas on lease for 25 years. Interested companies will be asked to submit plans for investment and the provision of services, as well as the tariffs they will charge.
The government explained that in this way, the role of the MMA would be solely that of regulator.
At the same time, fresh efforts would be made for the development of new marinas in line with the government's vision to see this sector grow in a competitive environment..

Is it possible for the authorities to do dredging works at the Msida creek near to the church. The sea is full of debris that is carried with the rain water flow, and also there is the residue of the drainage overflow that occurs when the drainage pumps near the Msida monument malfunction. The last dredging that took place if I remember correctly was more than 20 years ago, and it is now long overdue. The result at present is the foul smell which occasionally bother us, and possible damage to the underside of the yachts and boats. It is high time that these dredging works are done.

Could cabinet illuminate us where the new marinas are being intended
That is which bay Cabinet is thinking about sacrificing so that government can get a cash boost to mitigate the maladministration and waste of public funds.
Hasn't government and MEPA proved themselves as being incapable of controlling fish farms - that are sending our once pristine bays to the dogs!
But obviously the environment is our government's priority - pity that they do not know what it entails.

Are the Masters, Captains and crew members of private yachts
and boats going for a blockade of ports including that
of Gozo, because of the liberalisation? If there is Mr.
Victor Spiteri as President this might happen. We remember
another blockade when the HMS Ark Royal entered the
Grand Harbour.
Congratulations to all the Cabinet (without bullies).
