I would like to congratulate the participants of last Saturday's concert, at St George's Square, in Valletta. I must say that I, like any other Maltese, cannot but feel extremely proud to have a first-class Maltese tenor in Joseph Calleja and also a first-class conductor in Brian Schembri (whom I know personally) and, last but not least, a first-class Philharmonic Orchestra.

On this occasion I opted to purchase a Gold ticket (€140), hoping to have better seats than on a previous occasion. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the way the seating was organised. The attendance was extraordinary, as it usually is on similar occasions, but why, may I enquire, were the seats not elevated? I was placed in the 10th row and I could see nothing except for the two big heads occupying the seats in front on me. The seats were placed far too close to each other and the heat that evening made things even worse.

I was also very disappointed to see several people on the balconies and rooftops overlooking the square, watching this performance for free! Very unfair on those who had bothered to book seats for this spectacular evening but certainly well done to those who were clever enough not to purchase such expensive tickets but still managed to be there for this concert. I will surely follow suit next time; at least I would be able to see Joseph Calleja, Nataliya Kovalova and George Petean without the bother of paying such hefty fees (worth it, though).

It is certainly hoped that NnG Productions, the organisers, would improve the seating next time. The price of their tickets deserved better arrangements and more comfortable seats. Congratulations to Joseph Calleja, Brian Schembri, the organisers and all who participated in this wonderful concert. Such an entertaining evening!

Well done!
