Marriages

Mr EDWARD SLADDEN and Ms SHARON ZAMMIT LAFERLA
The marriage took place on June 20, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Victories, Senglea, between EDWARD, son of Anthony and Carmen Sladden of Senglea, and SHARON, daughter of Herbert and Carmen Zammit Laferla of Naxxar. Nuptial Mass was concelebrated by Fr Karm Debattista, assisted by Fr Gerald Bonello and Fr Silvio Bezzina. The ceremony was witnessed by Dr Edmond Zammit Laferla and Perit Victor Sladden. Mr Etienne Borg Catania was best man. Mrs Analise Zammit Laferla was maid of honour, Miss Yana Frendo was flower-girl and Master Alec Sladden was pageboy. Dr Richard Sladden and Mr Joseph Camilleri acted as ushers. A reception was later held at the Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort and Spa - Crescent Suite. The couple will be spending their honeymoon in New York and the Caribbean.

Obituary

COPPERSTONE. On July 11, CHARLES, of Tarxien, aged 51, passed peacefully away at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton, England, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Josette, his sons Mark and his fiancée Charmaine, and Glenn and his fiancée Adriana, his father Frank and his mother Emma, his sister Patricia and her husband Noel Attard, his mother-in-law Sylvia, his uncles, aunts, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.15 a.m. for the Annunciation parish church, Tarxien, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 7.45 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, would be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FALZON. On July 14, at Casa Arkati, Mosta, RITA, aged 69, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Frans, her children Carmen and her husband George Muscat, Raymond and his wife Rita, Paul and Antida, her grandchildren Lorraine and her husband Paul Attard, Adrian and his wife Kim, Elaine, Jessica, Kliona and Shantea, her great-grandchildren Nathan, Nicole and Eliza, her brother and sister, her brothers and sisters-in-law, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Arkati today at 1.30 p.m. for Mosta parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. MUSCAT. On July 14, ROSE, widow of Alfred, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Charles and Carmen of Oakville, Canada, Richard and Rose, Antoinette, Marthese and Charles of Mississauga, Canada, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends - R.I.P Mass praesente cadavere will be said at Fatima Sanctuary, Guardamangia, on Tuesday at 8 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.

PRIVITERA. On July 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, Bro. VICTOR PRIVITERA, FSC, aged 59, entrusted his life peacefully to the Father of Mercies. He leaves to commend him to the Lord his confrères of Stella Maris Community, Gżira, those of De La Salle Colege and Dar Sta Marija, Mellieħa, his brothers John and Eddie, his sister Violet, his brothers Joe and Victor in Australia and their respective families. Also many sincere friends among the staff, former students and the Girgenti prayer group. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Stella Maris community chapel, Triq il-Madonna tal-Ġebla, Gżira. The chapel will remain open throughout the morning for all who would like to pay their respects and offer prayers. Mass will be said at Gżira parish churh at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. As long as his health permitted, Bro. Victor devoted his best energies to the Christian education of young people as teacher and headmaster between 1938 and 1980. For our mutual encouragement as teachers, this verse from the Book of Daniel: "Those who have instructed many in virtue will shine as bright as stars for all eternity."

UHLENHAUT. On July 19, at St James' Hospital, Żabbar, ROGER, aged 66, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Dorothy née Dalli, his daughter Lara and her husband Dan, his son Jean and his partner Florence, his in-laws Mary, Carmen, Anne, John, Lana, Fidel, Josephine, Patrick, and their spouses, his friends Michael Calleya, Edward, Orlando, and Ebba. The funeral leaves Capua Hospital, Sliema, tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for Attard parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Gudja cemetery.
