@ Corinne Vella - One may not be a clothes police, as you call him, but you must admit, if y ou really have eyes to see, that many, many girls and women, too, who dress in such a disgusting manner, wearing those infamous tight, body-hugging clothes ... nothing wrong with such clothes, but at least, a woman has to take a look at the mirror and see if her body is worth hugging in the first place!!!!! Generally, such clothes even show your very private parts for all to see!!!!!

Are we modern or civilized?

Is nude swimming allowed? Shall women swim top-less? Or bottom-less? Shall women wear G-string or C-string? And the same questions goes for men too.
I am sure so many ‘civilized’ or ‘liberals’ may say something like:
Ara – what am I talking about, we are in 2008 or, Madonna, how still backward we are. In modern civilized countries such as Spain, Sweden they have a Nudism day and here in Malta we can or we can’t do this and that .. etc.
We are free peoples we are living in free countries!

You may also hear - If you don’t like what you see just turn your face.

But what constitute civilized?
Since thousands of years and until today you see many Africans, South American and south Asian tribes living nude. This is most probably lack of means . While ‘civilized’ westerners promote nudism lack of moralities.
If being civilized or un-civilized is measured by how nude one can be. The African and Asian tribes would be the most civilized peoples.

Someone got this wrong. It wasn't boxer shorts but rather an Elephant thong they were wearing, just strings at the back and a trunk on the front. And they didn't spend the night in jail, that how they always get up for breakfast in the morning.

Wow .. "lewd acts in public" ! Ahem, rather hard to imagine that in something as prosaic as boxers. Given the choice between a swede teen in boxers and a pot bellied bus driver with open shirt looking like a suckling pig ready to be barbecued on a spit I have no doubt which is the more disgusting sight. If the police want to get serious they should stop men walking bare from the waist up in Republic Street for starters.

And could we fashion cognoscenti please know if at least these boys had the nous to wear designer apparel or did they let the side down by wearing the Swedish equivalent of M&S?

I am sure the police filmed their daring exploit like they did with those female strippers some months past. Please release the video so we can check the latest fashion. Finally imagine what a field day your reporter would have had had they worn swim wear instead. Can you see the bold title on your front page Mr. Editor? boxer shorts are more decent than some of the clothes worn by maltese girls in paceville. have we ever heard of any girl being hauled in front of the courts for indecent exposure?
I would however have sentenced them for contempt of court at the way they answered the magistrate.

Don't the police have better things to do? Wouldn't a ticking off have sufficed for a misdemeanor such as this? I am not sure that a seventeen year old male running around without a tee shirt is breaking any law either? if so ,which law would that be ? Of wearing apparel in Paceville that resembles what one would wear on the beach? Give us a break. What a throwback to the dull sixties!

What a complete and utter waste of scarce resources and court time! Talk about using a sledge hammer to swat a fly! Shame on the aresting officer and the prosecutor in this case. Wouldn't a brief caution have sufficed, given the context of this prank?

Most probably we would have read hundreds of comments asking authorities not to let any Libyans or a black person stay in Malta ‘as they are a real threat to our kids’.
The color here plays a very good factor. With blondes we close an eye for such a thing. We can even go a step further and ingratiate them. No problem with them at all. We can live and be ‘safe’ and happy with them.
Blondes, they all are fine to mingle with, as long as they fit into our culture.
Our problem, we have traded our Christians values with sex-based and liberty-based values.
Ops, sorry I forgot that we are living in 2008 and we are getting modern! But are we?

Who is going to excuse himself for the acts these students repeatedly do while on holiday? These 'tourists' are being said to leave millions of cash in our economy instead i guess they scare off all other visitors from visiting a second time St.Julians and Paceville, with their immoral acts and drinking in side streets. Now ADT should sue the Students' respective schools for the bad name these students did to the tourism economy.

People in glass houses should not throw stones....

well done the Magistrate for using common sense which our police force seem to have little these days.
Wouldn't it have been enough for our St Julian's coppers to round up these kids and give them a good telling off. Do we really need to waste a magistrate's time with this bit of tomfoolery?

The police must be congratulated on this speedy dispensation of justice and protecting us Catholic Maltese from these "lewd acts in public."

With boatloads of illegal immigrants assaulting our shores every day, the police have the luxury of wasting public funds and time on hauling 7 teenagers to court for being in boxer shorts!! And in Paceville of all places! Paceville, that hallowed place reserved for all things holy and sacred.

Words fail me, but pathetic, wretched, miserable, incompetent, ridiculous, pompous, puerile, petty, flatulent and other such adjectives do spring to mind.
