Kerċem church clock restoration

The Kerċem parish church clock is being restored after it stopped ticking 30 years ago.

The clock has been dismantled and taken to the Wistin Camilleri Gozo Centre for Arts and Crafts for restoration by teachers and students attending the Mechanical Clock Repair and Restoration course.

The work will be supervised by two teachers who conducted the course, one of whom is a clock repairer and the other a mechanical engineer. The clock, which will take a year to restore, was originally made by Joannis Anton Tanti in 1764 and later acquired by Kerċem's parish.

The works will ensure that all the existing original parts will be restored, while those that have gone missing or were extensively damaged will be replaced.
