A court yesterday heard how a woman remained deaf in one ear following a traffic accident on the coast road more than two years ago.
Police Inspector Kevin Farrugia explained that the incident took place at 11.30 a.m. on February 5, 2006, when Joevin Ellul, of Pembroke, driving a Toyota, crashed into two cars, injuring four people.
Mr Ellul was accused of seriously injuring Nazzareno Mercieca, Maria Muscat and Terry Muscat and of slightly injuring Chantelle Vassallo.
Ms Muscat lost her hearing in one ear as a result of the accident.
He was also accused of driving recklessly, negligently and dangerously and without insurance cover.
Appearing before Magistrate Lawrence Quintano, Mr Ellul pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
Lawyer David Farrugia Sacco was defence counsel.
