James Dimech has confirmed himself as Malta's top junior cyclist.

James Dimech has confirmed himself as Malta's top junior cyclist.

For the third consecutive year, James Dimech has won the U-15 category in the 2008 National Road Cycling Mass Start Championship, organised by the Malta Cycling Federation.

As in the two previous years, Dimech, who is a member of the Mosta AF Sign Studio Cycling Club, finished the season with maximum points, having won the National Championship races at Ta' Pinellu, San Martin and Żurrieq. He also won races organised by the Mosta Cycling Club and the Melita Cycling Club in Żebbuġ and St Paul's Bay.

Dimech is mentored by Joe Muscat (youth coach at Mosta AF Sign Studio Cycling Club) who has a wealth of experience in this field.

The young Mosta cyclist has shown remarkable improvement last season, in the process confirming his potential to advance in this sport.

Dimech is now preparing for the International Cycling Youth Tour of Kerry, Ireland. His target is to improve on last year's performance where Dimech placed 20th from 64 participants.

Dimech is a member of the GO Youth Athlete Scheme of the MOC Centre of Excellence and benefits from support and assistance to take part in competitions and training camps abroad.
