Teenager charged with stabbing girlfriend

A 19-year-old man was yesterday remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring his girlfriend when he stabbed her in the hand and leg.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna heard that David Azzopardi allegedly stabbed Anne Marie Caruana at his home in Senglea on Tuesday at 11.30 a.m.

He also pleaded not guilty to holding her against her will, slightly injuring her, threatening and assaulting her and breaching the public peace. After taking into consideration the seriousness of the alleged crime, the court remanded Mr Azzopardi in custody.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted.
