John A. Said and Fair Trading Ltd yesterday filed two counter-protests in the First Hall of the Civil Court following the judicial protest filed against them and others by Greenlines Environmental Services Ltd.

Greenlines Ltd had originally filed a judicial protest on July 3 saying that Mr Said had been employed as a consultant in order to negotiate and sign contracts with clients and over the years he acquired sensitive information about the company and its operations. He then set up another company - Fair Trading Limited - to offer the same service at cheaper prices, using the services of two of its contractors.

In their counter protest both Mr Said and Fair Trading categorically denied having acted in a disloyal manner to Greenlines Environmental Services Ltd.

Mr Said added that he had set up Greenlines a number of years ago and had always acted in the best interests of the company. He had also invested heavily in this company.

At no time had he acted against the company's interests. He added that he had been unjustly dismissed from the company and claimed that Greenlines Environmental Services Ltd could not expect him not to work in this field.

Fair Trading declared that it was entitled to carry out its work. Greenlines Environmental Services was expecting to continue its functions without any competition. This was unacceptable, Fair Trading said.

Both Mr Said and Fair Trading called upon Greenlines Environmental Services to halt its allegations and held the company liable in damages.

Lawyer Beppe Fenech Adami signed both counter-protests.
