The strike by transport operators and its negative effects on the economy (8)
I cannot but be so much disgusted and humiliated by the disgraceful happenings of the past days. In my opinion these are some of the biggest scandals in Maltese history and which will have severe repercussions on our economy for a long period of time.
All this because some irresponsible persons decided or think that by bringing the country in disrepute they will be able to keep their monopoly for their generations and are not capable of facing up to competition as in other places in the world. Because it will mean the end of giving a lousy service for a price they feel like charging.
But I would also like to ask about the right of these people to block our ways to our places of work and to terrorise our tourists and guests. Where is the Police Force? Where is the SAG? Where is the army? Are they all incapable of controlling a bunch of "hooligans" from creating havoc?
To me this is nothing but incompetence by the government in dealing with such an unheard of situation. This is for me incomprehensible in this day and age. No wonder that we are considered a "third world country" or "European Arabs" by some of our northern European colleagues!

'Unheard of situation' Mr. Schembri?
What, are you thirty or younger?
Where is the Police Force? They were in the hot sun while you were sipping your ice-tea finding words to criticize your own countrymen (and women) ?
Where is the SAG ? Were there all right but their tear gas cannisters were thrown away twenty-one years ago and a fresh supply was not needed.
I suppose if it rains tomorrow ruining your BBQ you will also blame the government !
Biggest scandal in Maltese history? Now you prove (or trying to mislead us) that you are younger than 30 ?
Scandal - zero tolerance - incompetence - paraventu - Have I heard those quotes before?
European Arabs? Now your geography is faulty too. Are you implying that Joseph is an Arab?
OK Yusef, better have a word with Mr. Anthony C Schembri and straighten him out!
A dose of humility sometimes works wonders.

So if the police and army came in and put down the strikers, people wouldnt be sending letters complaining about police brutality? Aye right.
