Woman badly injured in late-night fall

A 60-year-old woman is in a critical condition after she fell a height of one storey at her residence in Mġarr, Malta on Tuesday night.

The police said they went to the residence after having been informed at about 2 a.m. that a woman had been admitted to hospital suffering from serious injuries she sustained in a fall.

Investigations showed that the accident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday when the woman was at her residence where some construction work was being carried out.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where she was found to be in a critical condition, the police said.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani has opened an inquiry and the police are investigating the circumstances of the fall.
