Although I have long been into music, I cannot lay any claims to being an expert of either classical or operatic music. But having attended, together with my wife, last Saturday's Luciano Pavarotti Tribute Concert by Joseph Calleja I must admit that I was highly impressed - both on the basis of the professional manner in which the concert was organised as well as due to the vast improvement on the Manoel Island Joseph Calleja concert we had attended some time back - right at the height of the Gżira feast - when good acoustics were more than somewhat lacking! Not to mention the fireworks that went off towards the latter part of the show.
If Nataliya Kovalova and George Petean were stars to be discovered, and Joseph Calleja continues to hone his excellence to perfection, another high spot of the tribute concert was the formidable Malta Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Brian Schembri who has elevated his work to the status of an art.
I hold no brief for NnG Promotions but have no hesitation in admitting that once again they have indeed delivered!
