Two men were yesterday remanded in custody after they pleaded not guilty to stealing cash from an outlet in Paola and stealing a car in Cospicua.

Charles Cutajar, 45, and Leandross Cutajar, 23, both of Cospicua pleaded not guilty to stealing under €2,239 from Mc Sims at about 3 p.m. on June 7 and holding Clinton Borg and Steve Scicluna against their will.

They were also charged with being in possession of a firearm, stealing a Peugeot 206, driving without insurance, handling stolen property and relapsing between May 24 and June 7.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani heard Leandross Cutajar plead not guilty to committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended sentence.

Police Inspector Joseph Mercieca prosecuted.

Lawyer Richard Sladden was defence counsel.
