The Malta Arts Festival ends tomorrow after showcasing 25 performances over a period of two weeks.

The different genres offered a stage to 225 artistes, more than half being Maltese, underlining the importance afforded to the home grown "product". However, strong interest was also shown by foreign artistes, who expressed the will to participate, meaning the festival's international profile was raised. The festival, organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, used a variety of venues, spilling, for the first time, out of Valletta into Floriana and Sliema. Apart from the Argotti Gardens, La Vittoria Bastion at Ospizio in Floriana was used for the first time.
