Abuse by blue sticker holders

One of the many concerns of people with a disability is the lack of parking spaces available.

The few spaces reserved for them are sometimes occupied by irresponsible people who ignore the difficulties encountered by the disabled.

Take the two reserved spaces on the coast road at Qawra, which are often occupied by vehicles from a car rental company, one of them with a blue sticker attached.

To add insult to injury, a considerable number of blue sticker holders are abusing the system. Often wrong use is made of this blue sticker and friends and family members also take the opportunity to make use of it to the detriment of genuine blue sticker holders.

At Mater Dei Hospital I have noticed people whom I happen to know abusing the system.

I have raised this problem with the customer care section at the hospital and also with the security personnel but, to my dismay, no one seems to be responsible.

I wish that this problem could be taken seriously by the police and traffic wardens so that this abuse stops once and for all.

Disabled people making wrong use of this blue sticker should have it withdrawn.
