Lualua: Olympiakos Piraeus striker Lomana LuaLua wants to remain at the Greek champions despite growing speculation that the Democratic Republic of Congo international is set to be axed from the club. The former Newcastle and Portsmouth frontman joined Olympiakos last year but after a promising start, he ran into disciplinary problems and was dropped for the Greek Cup final. "I have made mistakes, I accept that but people can change," he said.

Guerron: Getafe have confirmed the signing of Ecuadorian forward Joffre Guerron from LDU. The 23-year-old, who is to be presented today, helped LDU to become the first Ecuadorian side to win the South American Libertadores Cup at the beginning of the month.

In Brazil: Flamengo stayed five points clear at the top of the Brazilian championship with an easy 3-1 win over neighbours Vasco da Gama on Sunday. Flamengo have 26 points from 11 games, five ahead of Cruzeiro and Gremio who both won. Title-holders Sao Paulo moved to seventh with 17 points with a 2-1 win over neighbours Palmeiras.

Spartak Moscow: Spartak Moscow captain Yegor Titov, Brazilian midfielder Mozart and Ukraine international Maxim Kalinichenko are to play in the reserves after a 5-1 thrashing by city rivals CSKA on Saturday, the Russian premier league club said. Spartak coach Stanislav Cherchesov copied the example of CSKA's Valery Gazzayev, who dropped Vagner Love to the reserves before recalling the Brazil striker to face Spartak at the weekend and he responded by notching a hat-trick.

Zaragoza: Relegated Real Zaragoza are awaiting explanations from want-away Brazil striker Ricardo Oliveira after he did not turn up for the start of pre-season training yesterday. "I hope he has a good reason or we will have to take the appropriate measures," the Spanish side's president Eduardo Bandres told a news conference.

Cricket: Bangladeshi cricket TV and marketing rights up until 2012 have been bought for $56.88 million. Nimbus Sports International signed the deal on Sunday night, acquiring the rights to market all BCB cricket events in Bangladesh until 2012 during which they will host 23 test-matches and over 40 one-day internationals.

Basket, NBA: The Washington Wizards have re-signed three-times All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas. Terms of the deal were not revealed but sources said it was worth $111 million over six years. Arenas averaged 19.4 points and 5.1 assists in just 13 games last year after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

IOC solidarity: Cash-strapped Laos will send a team of only four athletes to next month's Beijing Olympics, with the IOC picking up the tab. The Southeast Asian country, which has never won an Olympic medal, is relying on charitable handouts and an IOC grant to pay for tracksuits and flight tickets and ensure its two swimmers and two runners get a chance to compete. Laos is one of Asia's poorest countries and most of its 5.8 million people have no access to sports facilities, with many living without running water or electricity.
