Sea transport between Malta and Gozo has registered an increase of 4.5 per cent in the second quarter of this year, totalling 1,036,118 passengers.

The number of vehicles carried by scheduled vessels also rose by 4.7 per cent to 265,230.

The increase in demand was matched by suppliers and the number of trips in the second quarter stood at 4,861, an increase of 3.2 per cent on last year. The highest number of journeys was recorded last month at 1,674, or 34.4 per cent of the total number of trips for the period.
