A 20-year-old man was yesterday jailed for 10 months and ordered to pay €2,300 after he admitted to trafficking and being in possession of heroin on July 5.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard Dustin Caruana, of Tarxien, admit to the charges of trafficking and being in possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his exclusive use.

Before handing down judgment, the court took into consideration the fact that Mr Caruana had no police record and had fully cooperated with the police in their investigations.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted.

Lawyer David Gatt appeared for Mr Gatt.
