A Maltese fisherman was airlifted to Mater Dei Hospital for priority medical treatment yesterday after he was injured by a stingray while on board a fishing vessel.

An Armed Forces helicopter was immediately sent to airlift the 21-year-old fisherman from the fishing - vessel Estonia, 15 nautical miles east of Malta. The fisherman was stung in the foot.
