Fr Michael Bugeja, SJ, (photo) has been appointed as the new chaplain at the University of Malta, replacing another jesuit, Fr Jimmy Bartolo, SJ, who had seved in the post for the past 10 years.
Fr Bugeja was ordained in June 2006. He studied philosophy in Padua, Italy, and Theology at Heythorp College, University of London, and completed his studies at Regis College, University of Toronto, Canada, where he was awarded Masters in Pastoral Counselling.
Prior to joining the Jesuits in 1995 he worked in the hotel industry and is a former St Edward's College student.
Meanwhile, Fr Bartolo has been appointed superior of the Jesuit community at Dar Manwel Magri, Tal-Qroqq, and will also be assistant head at St Aloysius' College Sixth Form. He will continue to co-ordinate the Ignatian Youth Network and be director of the Vocations Apostolate.
