High interest in ICT conference

The first national ICT conference - WICT 2008 - which is due to be held on November 17 and 18, has attracted significant interest from local ICT researchers and professionals, the University of Malta's Faculty of ICT organising committee announced.

Abstracts of papers submitted by various research groups both within the faculty as well as from the ICT industry up until last week's deadline covered a broad range of research topics including social networks, user-adaptive systems, tunable inductors, location-based services, cognitive networks, full contract specification and analysis, computer security, computer graphics, video streaming, hardware design/verification, natural language processing, computer simulation, and model checking among others. The closing date for the submission of the actual papers is September 19.

During the conference, presentations on these topics will be complemented by keynote speeches on computer mediated living by Dr Stephen Hodges from Microsoft Research Lab, Cambridge, and on identity management by Dr Pythagoras Papadimitriou from Sun Microsystems.
