Campaign against residents only/60-minutes parking

'I, too, live in a busy area, surrounded by a supermarket, a curtain/carpet shop and two car dealers. Both establishments employ over 100 people. Some employees come as early as 5 a.m. and park in front of our homes until 7 p.m.

'The car dealers take over the entire area with their cars displayed on the road for days and weeks on end. With the 60-minute parking scheme everybody gets a fair deal. Shoppers may park until they finish their errands and residents get a chance to park close to their homes.

'Working in the south of the island, where buses operate on an hourly basis, I need to travel by car. But when I'm on leave, or at weekends, I always catch the bus to places like Sliema, Valletta or even Paola, as public transport is the best form of transport.

'The government should offer some sort of incentive (tax refund) for people who travel to and from work.' (Anna Lecke)
