Electronic communications regulatory authorities in the Euro-Mediterranean region have joined forces and formed the Euro-Mediterranean Network of Regulators Group (EMERG).

The group aims to strengthen co-operation and set up a network that aims to facilitate the sharing of experiences and the organisation of neighbourly co-operation.

Malta currently holds the chairmanship of EMERG, and together with representatives from Austria, Egypt, the European Commission, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey, participated in the launch meeting held in Malta on July 1.

A declaration on the founding of EMERG was agreed to by all parti-cipants in Malta. A plan of activities was also formulated for the coming year until the next meeting in Morocco.
