Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici congratulated the Police Corps on the occassion of its 194th anniversary since its establishment.

Celebrations reached their peak this morning with the awarding of medals to those members that have served in the corps for over 25 years.

Dr Mifsud Bonnici said that the police corps is nowadays proving how critical it is in maintaining law and order in the country.

"It is difficult to measure the good the police corps does in its daily operations because the majority of their work isn't known to the public. But it is without doubt that this work leads directly to the serenity and order we enjoy in Malta," said Dr Mifsud Bonnici in a short speech during the medal-awarding ceremony.

The Minister concluded by congratulating all those officers present and wished that they remain proud that they are members of the coprs while wearing their uniform and also throughout their personal lives.
