Don't blame it on poor Mdina paving works, ministry says

The Resources and Rural Affairs Ministry has shot down a claim that the paving in Mdina is being damaged by karozzini because it was not properly laid.

Joe Vassallo, who represents the Mdina karozzini drivers, told The Times that the tiling was being damaged in areas where the work was hastily done.

However, the ministry said this is not the case because only the streets used by karozzini were damaged.

The damage is being done by horses' hooves and wheels and the karozzini drivers have agreed to replace them with rubber ones. Horseshoes have already been replaced and the wheels are expected to be changed by the end of September.

The ministry said the responsibility of maintenance will fall in the hands of the Mdina local council.
