When I keep reading one case after the other of couples fighting and hurting each other, how can anybody vote against the 'Divorce' law ? What are we accomplishing by punishing there victims, by not allowing them to leave their other half, which do not fit in their everyday life anymore ? Let's be realistic and compassionate!

Elizabeth Vella seems to relish being judge& jury.
But of course, if proven to be as she so hastely states, all well and good! We shall wait and see.
But ( although not an excuse for violence) , has anyone heard of psycological violence, especially when children are involved? One parent torturing another with any sort of convenient mental sadism involving their offsprings? Now, that is what i call violence too, it doesn't scar the flesh or maim the body, but it contorts the mind of the unfortunate parent in a very violent manner and worst of all it is embedded in the mind of the offspring who can never fathom out what is going wrong especially if of a tender age.
Now, I am not saying that the poor woman in question had these tendencies, but i would be very careful with my comments for the time being since only the innard walls of their home can really tell what it was all about.

@Elizabeth Vella, Without a jury. On what grounds should he spend the rest of his life in Jail. We don't know nothing about this case. We do know that the police did NOT find the injuries to be the cause of death. Where those injuries 100% caused by her husband. Probably, but we're not sure yet.

This kind of thing should not be happening in 21st Century Malta. Husband of deceased should spend the rest of his miserable life locked up.

Just 2 comments:
(1) Husband is still NOT FOUND GUILTY. So please PLEASE give him a fair chance to defend himself. He may be totally innocent.
(2) Report all DOMESTIC VIOLENCE cases you may know. Use 179.

What a pity! Certainly a sad loss.
As Mr. Wilman said, no woman (or man, I add) should have to put up with that.
Mr, Farrugia, you are too quick in your judgment about the church and the establishment. Whilst I am no fan of either, and partially share your sentiment on the subject, I also believe that no institution - the church or any other - forces couples to remain together. If you are in an unhappy situation (or worse still, life threatening) you shouldn't care whether the church or the establishment or your family or whoever is happy or not...or whether you're living in sin, etc....

Before we fall short of calling MR Pace a murderer. The police concluded that the injuries did not caused the death. I don't condone any domestic violence, and yes it should be reported to the authorities. I don't think the church had anything to do with her staying with him,a woman can get separated in Malta. I would think the church would have sheltered ,if she cried out for help. What about the government do they have shelters for abused spouses?

Please... you seem to go into conclusion that you found the accused guitly without going to court. Remember that the Catholic Church does not condone any violence.

Oh well ... as long as they stayed together ... Church is happy, the establishment is happy ... and these are the traditional family values we are inculcating! Pffttttt! And this is the tip of the iceberg.
