I was not a fan of big Dom back in his days, though those days I didnt yet have the vote. But comparing him to the chickens we have today, on both sides, is ridiculous. Love him or hate him, he was a Statesman, and a one to be reckoned with.
He surely would have never allowed this to happen.

What is going on?!!!! The government seems oblivous about this critical issue in our country.. in a few years time, we might as well imigrate ourselves to the African countries as it seems that all Africans will be living in Europe...
@E. Grech... surely you're right, the Italians seem to be trafficking immigrants themselves, nevertheless, the bottom-line is that Berlusconi has his own way of tackling this issue, but unfortunately our government is utterly lost at sea. Wakey wakey Dr. Gonzi!!!!

I assure you that if the Maltese had been given the opportunity to vote for the Lisbon Treaty now, it would have been rejected like what happened in Ireland................why because the Maltese are loosing faith in EU institutions and the two political parties to solve this issue. That's the reality!

Is it true that these Italian boats are rescuing immigrants, or are they indeed the traffickers themselves?

Shame on all our MPs! They should all be awarded a medal for their 'qadi tar-Repubblika' . The way the immigrants problem is being handled is truly amazing! Wake up Dr. Gonzi & Co. You are known to find a solution to every problem; or is this one particular problem too big to handle? If this situation keeps spiraling out of control, future generations will blame no one but you and your feeble actions. I am sure that if a man like Dom was running the country, he would surely find a way out of this mess. To him, Malta was truly 'L-EWWEL U QABEL KOLLOX' !
