National team for Euro debut

The Maltese national team will be making their first appearance in the Confederation of European Baseball Championship in Antwerp, Belgium, this week.

Newly-appointed coach Ray Bartolo has the following players at his disposal: Steve Ritchie, Mark Buttigieg and Patrick Pace (Mustangs); Charles Attard, Steven Galea and Mark Buttigieg (Gozo Tornadoes); Mark Cauchi, Marlon Borg and Clint Grima (Mellieħa Northenders) and Keith Bartolo and Michael Bartolo (Jeka Breda, Holland).

Malta have been drawn in the same group as Switzerland, Austria and Belgium.

In Antwerp, umpire Chuck Micallef will be making his first official showing on the international scene.
