Migrants land in Sliema

Twenty-seven illegal migrants arrived on a boat at Sliema at about 5 a.m. yesterday.

The police said they were informed that a boat with the migrants was spotted in the sea from Tower Road. Sliema district police, together with members of the Mobile Squad, went to the spot where they found that the migrants were already ashore.

The police said that health-wise, all the migrants were in a good condition. Investigations are in progress.

Another group of 27 migrants disembarked at Xlendi on Tuesday. Four of them were taken to Gozo General Hospital because they required medical attention while the rest were transferred to a detention centre in Malta.

Estate agents say that the price of property in places like Bugia and Mosta has depreciated because of the flood of illegal immigrants running around.
Does this now mean that the prices of apartments in Sliema are also going to dpreciate?

Yupeeee!!!! Or should I cry?

I guess the Tigne apartments will be filled in no time at all with these new unpaying but paid for guests which are arriving by the hundreds in 48 hours

at least this time we saved on fuel as the patrol boat didn't need to go out and get them!

Next time round they will land at Portomaso - it's nicer over there!

Perhaps the construction lobby’s evident influence on the government at present has something to do with the same government’s luckluster attempts at curbing illegal immigrant arrivals. After all it was the present government that opted for such a ridicously large search and rescue zone when joingin the EU. Just a thought…
