Back to the days of radio for Wimbledon tournament
Imagine the scene: Two of the greatest tennis players ever to grace the courts, Federer and Nadal, locked in combat fighting for the title of the most prestigious tournament in the world... Wimbledon! Five sets of ''edge of the seat'' gripping action, nail biting stuff indeed.
Yes, ''imagine'' is what we had to do! As Melita Cable denied us this spectacle despite the high charges they make us pay for their service. Thank goodness for the excellent radio channel 103.7FM. It was like a step back in time hovering over the radio for a sporting event such as this.
However, I expect we will be able to watch recordings of the tournament many times in the next few weeks now that the result is known and no-one is interested any longer.

It is very true that Melita Cable did not show Wimbledon, though Go did. Euro 2008 was even worse, no local station showed it. Had it not been for Mamma Rai, we would have seen nothing.
Consumers should look for other venues through which they can follow any sport they like on internet. There are various FREE sites where they can watch live streaming. Also, with an investment costing only a couple of euro, they can project the images on their T.V.
So, dear consumers, take heart ! The time to ditch all money grabbing service providers has arrived.
I am sure more of your readers might be interested in expanding on such a theme, and in layman's terms explain the more technical aspects.

@ John Caruana
For the same reason that you saw fit to comment on Mr. Williams letter.
Exclusivity cost money you say, what do you think we pay peanuts?
Sorry, but if you have no interest in the matter just but out of it, I pay good money and expect good service.
Melita Cable is one of the costliest provider in Europe, so they can afford to compete for exclusives. They just take their subsribers for granted. Shame, because it is us that pay their wages.

I watched it on the internet, for free.

I have no interest in Melita or Go Plus. But this issue always crops up for major events. The problem lies in exclusivity. If either one of Go or Melita have exclusive rights to transmit an event (and exclusivity costs money) then the other cannot transmit the event in question. When Melita win exclusivity the Go plus Subscribers suffer and vice versa.
I would presume that the position of both Go plus and Melita is clear as similar letters have appeared in the newspapers with similar replies.
So why people keep on writing to newspapers complaining is beyond me
